Definitely a Downgrade
In the early 70s, American Motors took advantage of the Green Hornet license to promote the AMC Hornet. In doing so, the Green Hornet’s Black Beauty, a Luxurious 1966 Imperial, was replaced by a 110HP compact hatch-back. (By comparison the 2019 Ford Fiesta has more horsepower.)

Black Beauty Through the Years
The first Black Beauty was a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr coupe that appeared in the two Green Hornet serials of 1940. Kato quipped that it could do “better than 200” with its “Chemical Energizer” and the “on demand surge” it provided . The car sounded like a hornet, but could also be switched to “silent running” mode.
