Do you believe that the scientists observing Mars will find any new facts which might prove or disprove
the theory that the planet ts inhabited by beings similar to the inhabitants of the earth?
ANSWERS
H. LESLIE QUIGG, chief of police: There may be people on Mars and probably the planet is inhabited, but,
if they are as far ahead of the people of this earth in learning as is said, they should have been able to communicate with us long ago. Our wireless is in its infancy and theirs is probably much further advanced. It is not unlikely that they will be unable to understand our signals and we theirs, especially as it is probable that they speak a different laneguage than ours.
DAVID H. GRIFFIN, vice president of the Cureton Lumber Company: It may be that within a few centuries our scientists will discover something interesting concerning Mars, but not during the lies of the people now on earth. I do not think we are far enough advanced in the means of communication to get in touch with Mars now.
PETER E. BARTNETT, contractor: There is a question in my mind as to there being people on Mars. No he doubt there is same form of life there, but I doubt if the creatures there look like the people of this earth. They may look like a bullfrog, a fish or a jackass.
CHARLES A. PFEIFFER, Miami Blue Print Company: The whistling sound that comes over the radio when all stations are cut off is evidently a signal from Mars or some other planet, this indicating that there are people there. I think the people of Mars, if there are any such, are more intelligent than we are, and if we ever get in communication with them we will learn that they have no need to talk with us as they can read our thoughts
RUFUS SHAW, salesman, Hills Cigar Store: If there are people on Mars, the Chamber of Commerce would have sent them literature long ago and they would now be making reservations at our hotels for the coming winter season.
