In 2003, in
order to survive, Tulsa's aeronautical corporations merged forces. The
newly formed Tulsa Aeronautics Inc. then bought out the Airport and
surrounding property from the near bankrupt Tulsa Airport Authority and
the City of Tulsa. TAI is located just 10 minutes from downtown Tulsa via major interstates and state highways. It is served by 10 scheduled passenger carriers, several charter carriers, and six freights carriers, processing over 120,000 tons of cargo annually. Together, these carriers offer regional, national and international service via 220 scheduled departures and arrivals daily, including 100 nonstop flights to 25 major airports from a modern 40-gate facility. The boundaries go from I 244 to the south to 36th Street north and from Sheridan over to Mingo Creek. To facilitate the increased traffic a second North-South runway was added in 2005 on the east side of Mingo Street. The TA Complex is Home to more than 100 firms, employing over 18,000 people locally and having an economic impact of over $5 billion. In recent years TAI was responsible for the development of the Haunt orbital platform, the Cargo Shuttle "MACK" and the Spaceplane "Galactic Cowboy" (shown below).
The
Haunt Finished in 2015, The Haunt required 2.5 billion euro and 4 years to build. Deemed one of the safest space projects when only 3 workgangers lost their lives during it's construction. "The Haunt"
was pieced together in orbit with supplies being shipped in by spaceplane and
shuttle. The structure itself is 55 stories tall and capable of housing 1225
people. Statistics for "The Haunt": Cost: 2.5 billion eb Phone: 918-555-5000 |
