The Timeline for METROPOLIS
1990 through great diligence
Joh Fredersen secures the initial funds to build his visionary city of
Metropolis, a city to be built on top of an existing older coastal city. Through
his brilliant use of the world's stock markets Joh is able to increase his personal wealth
ten-fold.
1991 Construction on Metropolis starts, the existing infrastructure is reinforced to accommodate the increases in population and industry that Joh envisioned would come.
1994 Construction on the Fredersen tower begins, a tower which was to be the heart of the city.
2001 Freder Fredersen is born. His mother, Hel, died giving birth.
2002 Joh Fredersen becomes even more focused on his aspirations to build the great METROPOLIS, the population of the city is now 4 million, and is considered one of the great financial markets of the world. Corporations from all over the globe start to set up regional offices in the newly constructed buildings.
2005 Joh Fredersen considers having an ancient cathedral destroyed because it was an obstruction to traffic. The monk Desertus, vowed that METROPOLIS would lie in a ruined heap if he dared touch on stone on the temple, Joh conceded and left the cathedral alone, building around and over it instead.
2007 the subterranean city is unveiled to the world, a completely self-contained city where workers can live and be entertained without ever leaving the confines of their home, it is declared a "wonder of the world".
2014 the "Club of the Sons" is established for the sons of the rich and powerful in the city, as a token of good will between Joh Fredersen and the other Corporates.
2020 Census results show the city to be home to 50 million residents.
2026 The great worker riots take place, destroying large portions of the city
2026 - 2032 The rebuilding of METROPOLIS
